Lesson or fitting? Here's the honest answer

This comes up most weeks at the front desk. There's no single right order, but there's a useful way to think about it, and we'll say plainly if a session isn't going to help yet.

The distinction

A Fitting Optimizes the Swing You Already Have

Equipment can nudge a ball flight a few yards, tighten dispersion, or fix a mismatch between your body and a stock spec. It won't rewrite a swing path that puts a different result on the ball every time — that's a coaching problem, and a session built on top of it mostly measures noise instead of a real signal.

If your strike is repeatable but the result isn't what you want, that's exactly what a fitting solves. If it's still moving around, we'd rather tell you that up front than sell you a session that won't hold up once your swing changes anyway.

Where players land

Three Common Cases

Consistent strike, old clubs — a fitting alone usually delivers the bigger, faster gain. Mid-swing-change with an instructor — we'd rather wait a few weeks until the change settles before fitting around it. Both, in sequence — a round of lessons, then a fitting once the new swing is the one you'll actually take to the course.
